à l’origine de l’invention des charentaises se trouvent les fameuses semelles en feutre, provenant du recyclage des feutres à papier qui servaient à presser les feuilles dans l’industrie papetiàre. Avec cette technique, rien ne se perd, rien ne se crée, tout se transforme. Les semelles en feutre des charentaises qui feront leur renommée sont nées. Lors de leur confection au cours du XVIIàme siàcle, les charentaises n’étaient pas encore portées en tant que pantoufles seules, on venait les glisser dans de gros sabots pour rendre la marche plus agréable. En 1907, la maison Ets Rondinaud modernise la traditionnelle charentaise en y appliquant son désormais célàbre motif écossais, et c’est un tournant décisif car pour la premiàre fois, ces pantoufles se portent seules. Charentaises Rondinaud, d’authentiques pantoufles Rondinaud demeure une société familiale qui continue de fabriquer ses charentaises en Charente, perpétuant ainsi une tradition et un savoir-faire artisanal vieux de plus d’un siàcle. Fier de son héritage, Rondinaud inscrit ses valeurs là où tout a commencé, sur les semelles de ses charentaises: « Made in Charente, fabriqué par les Ets Rondinaud, maison fondée il y a belle lurette» . Le saviez-vous ? La Charentaise est également connue sous le nom de « pantoufle Jeva» et Rondinaud est également labellisé “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant”.“
