Choosing the right size

To find shoes that fit well, you need to measure your feet correctly. There are several quick and easy ways to find your size. Here are 3 of them:

The professional pedimeter

This professional tool measures the length of a foot. Fun and perfectly suited to children’s feet as well as adults’, it is very quick and easy to use: ideal for measuring your own size or checking your children’s during the season.

This pedimeter is available on our website.

How does it work?

  1. Place the pedimeter on the floor.
  2. Standing up, put your right heel on the rounded mark and keep the rest of your foot flat (toes spread out). Stand up straight and look ahead.
  3. Slide the white tab to the tip of your foot, on the scale.
  4. Read your size. If the pedimeter shows 2 values, take the larger one. That’s it, you know your size!

The printable pedimeter

Click the button below to print our pedimeter on a standard sheet of paper (A4, actual size, 100% scale) and measure your foot on it:

  1. Print the pedimeter and place it on a flat surface on the floor.
  2. Stand up and put your foot flat (toes spread out) on the sheet, making sure your heel is right at the back of the space provided.
  3. Read your size on the scale.

As one foot can be larger than the other, measure both feet and go with the larger size. For example, if your foot is between a 38 and a 39, round up to the next size: your size is 39.

Measuring in cm

You can also use a blank sheet of paper to measure your foot.

How does it work?

  1. Put your foot flat on a blank sheet of paper and trace its outline with a pen.
  2. Repeat with the other foot.
  3. Measure the maximum length with a ruler or a tape measure.

To convert this measurement into a French (EU) size, we use the French system, or Paris point, in which the length in cm equals 2/3 of the size. For example, if your foot measures 25.9 cm, the formula is 26 cm / 0.666 = 39: your French size is 39.

For children’s feet, remember to leave a margin of about 1.2 cm at the front of the foot. This is the growth margin (a child’s foot grows by 3 mm every 30 days on average).

About the brand

‘If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.’ This African proverb pretty much gives you the idea of how Laidback London works. As fast fashion was booming, Mohamed Daya, the young Kenyan creator of the brand, saw the value in offering products made using traditional craftsmanship: shoes with something to tell and to give back, to make a difference and improve the lives of the local communities that would make them. This is how Laidback London started in the early 2000s, with leather sandals handmade in Africa, using traditional techniques passed down through generations. Each pair is made by many hands, through safe and sustainable employment, training and education. In 2014 the brand launched its first Winter collection with the same ethos of working with local artisans, preserving traditional craftsmanship and giving back to the local community. These furred boots are authentic, and may be raw in their make up, but what they lack in perfection, they make up for in charm and character. Laidback London has your shoe game covered!
