Choosing the right size

To find shoes that fit well, you need to measure your feet correctly. There are several quick and easy ways to find your size. Here are 3 of them:

The professional pedimeter

This professional tool measures the length of a foot. Fun and perfectly suited to children’s feet as well as adults’, it is very quick and easy to use: ideal for measuring your own size or checking your children’s during the season.

This pedimeter is available on our website.

How does it work?

  1. Place the pedimeter on the floor.
  2. Standing up, put your right heel on the rounded mark and keep the rest of your foot flat (toes spread out). Stand up straight and look ahead.
  3. Slide the white tab to the tip of your foot, on the scale.
  4. Read your size. If the pedimeter shows 2 values, take the larger one. That’s it, you know your size!

The printable pedimeter

Click the button below to print our pedimeter on a standard sheet of paper (A4, actual size, 100% scale) and measure your foot on it:

  1. Print the pedimeter and place it on a flat surface on the floor.
  2. Stand up and put your foot flat (toes spread out) on the sheet, making sure your heel is right at the back of the space provided.
  3. Read your size on the scale.

As one foot can be larger than the other, measure both feet and go with the larger size. For example, if your foot is between a 38 and a 39, round up to the next size: your size is 39.

Measuring in cm

You can also use a blank sheet of paper to measure your foot.

How does it work?

  1. Put your foot flat on a blank sheet of paper and trace its outline with a pen.
  2. Repeat with the other foot.
  3. Measure the maximum length with a ruler or a tape measure.

To convert this measurement into a French (EU) size, we use the French system, or Paris point, in which the length in cm equals 2/3 of the size. For example, if your foot measures 25.9 cm, the formula is 26 cm / 0.666 = 39: your French size is 39.

For children’s feet, remember to leave a margin of about 1.2 cm at the front of the foot. This is the growth margin (a child’s foot grows by 3 mm every 30 days on average).

About the brand

Paraboot’s story begins in Izeaux, a small village in Eastern France near the Alps. Rémy-Alexis Richard, works as a clicker in a shoe workshop, and decides in 1908 to launch its own shoes business, at a time where outsoles were made of wood or leather. In 1927, back from a trip to the United States where he discovered “boots” equipped with rubber soles, Mr. Richard registers the name Paraboot, which comes from “Para” (an Amazonian port from where the latex is exported from) and “Boot”. Paraboot shoes are sturdy, comfortable, and made with premium-quality materials. Many professionals wear them as they are well suited for many work-related environments. In the 1960s, Paraboot’s historical factory produced many high-performance technical shoes, that litteraly traveled around the world… at the feet of the great explorer Paul-Émile Victor or the great volcanoligist Haroun Tazieff, to name a few Specialized in the Norwegian-welted construction, Paraboot also produced Goodyear or Blake-welted shoes and develops every seasons new and fashionable urban styles, that come in many different looks, colors and materials. The Paraboot adventure continues, as this family-operated business launched in 2017 a brand new modern and environmentally friendly 10.000 m² plant, located a few minutes away from the historic workshops.
