Rockport is family business manufacturing shoes and founded by Saul and Bruce Katz in 1971, and based in Massachusetts. Its concept "Walkability" may be summed up in a few words: design shoes so comfortable they can be worn every days. To highlight their shoes comfort and softness; Tony Post (Rockport VP) decided in 1990 to register for New-York marathon, he ran the entire marathon (42,195km) wearing Rockport shoes. What an ideal advertisement for their shoes !
After this great buzz, Rockport focuses on its shoes technical innovation, the brand started to design extremely light soles for derbies. In 2006, Adidas took over Rockport, allowing to the Massachusetts company to take advantage of innovations such as adiPRENE (technology allowing to absorb shocks) or Hydro-Shield (waterproof construction to seal out moisture)
