Kamo Gutsu shoes

Kamo Gutsu shoe brand is designed in Belgium and produced in Italy. It is inspired by casual/sports shoes of the 1920’s and 1930’s.

The brand name derives from the ancient Japanese footwear used to play kemari, Japan's ancestral (7th century) version of today’s football (soccer).

For the members of the ancient Japanese upper class, kemari was regarded as a refined game of skill and grace. The original shoe looked like the beak of a duck, hence the name: kamo = duck and gutsu = shoe.

Nowdays, the tradition of Kemari is kept alive thanks to the Emperor and the Kemari Preservation Society.
