Geox shoes

Everybody know Geox' world-wide reputation. But do you know how "the shoes that breathe" were created?

It all started on a hot Summer day, back in the 1990s. Mario Moretti Polegato, creator and founder of the Geox company (that he is still running today), was strolling under Nevada's burning sun and had the brilliant idea to poke holes into his outsoles to ventilate his feet. The idea of a flexible, breathable outsole had just emerged.

Back to Italy, that very idea is developped in a small local company belonging to the Moretti Polegato family, before being patented. Geox shoes are then manufactured with perforated outsoles, equipped with a special membrane that wicks sweat away and allows air to freely move inside the shoes. "The shoes that breathe" concept was born and a wonderful success story that would revolutionize the shoe making industry was about to begin.

What about the name "Geox"? It actually comes from the greek word geo meaning "earth". Combined with the letter X, the symbol of new technologies, Geox gained a reputation of innovative and modern company.
